Art Studio Procedures
During the semester at the end of which the student will complete 30 units, the student is eligible for final review. The student is advised to:
Final Review
During the semester when the student expects to complete 30 units, the student should consult with the Graduate Coordinator/s and her/his advisor in order to determine the details of the final review, which is a culminating exhibition of student work. (Final reviews may be attempted only twice.)
The student participates in a final critique - the final review process includes an exhibition of artwork at the Else gallery, which may be concurrent with the final review. If it is not concurrent, the student must also present their work at ASL. The student should present the work to the studio faculty in a professional manner. The student should consult with her/his advisor regarding the amount of work for the exhibition and the manner in which it is to be presented. During the final review exhibition the student should be available for questions and comments regarding the artwork.
Advisement Process in Culminating Requirements
Students who do not consult with their advisor may not undertake final review. If the student’s advisor does not approve the student’s participation in the final review process, the student will not be permitted to undertake the final review. The student may only attempt the final review twice. Failure to pass the second review will result in loss of classified graduate status. Final reviews will be held every semester. In most academic years the fall semester reviews will occur during the week before Thanksgiving; the spring semester reviews will occur two weeks after spring break. In contrast to normal critiques and advancements, only the candidate and faculty will attend the final review.
