Mikko Lautamo is a digital artist who explores the intersection of social, biological, and technological systems as they evolve over time. His work uses custom software to project abstract animations that run endlessly without repeating.
He received his MA from Sacramento State and has exhibited work in the Sacramento region, Melbourne, and online. He teaches courses in the New Media Art concentration, including Art 97, Art 142, and Art 198. He also writes reviews for Squarecylinder.com, an online art magazine that covers Northern California.
His current body of work relates cloud formation, DNA, and the social constraints of geography as a mixed metaphor elucidating the common movements inherent to complex organic systems.
