Professor Maria Winkler teaches Art Education.

Maria Winkler, Professor of Art at California State University in Sacramento, holds an MFA in painting and drawing and a Ph.D. in art education. Currently, she teaches Understanding and Creating Art, a course designed to prepare future teachers to teach art in the public schools.

A practicing and exhibiting artist, Maria Winkler has had more than twenty solo shows and participated in over fifty group shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. Her paintings are included in the permanent collections of the Boise Art Museum, Boise, Idaho; California League of Women Artists, Sacramento, CA; Kaiser Permanente’s Public Art Collection, the University of California Medical Center’s Public Art Collection, and a number of corporate art collections. Her work also appears in published form as posters, art cards, teaching aids, and books. Her biography appears in World’s Who’s Who of Women in Education and also in Who’s Who in American Art.
